Overview
What is Molded FRP Grating?
Molded FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) Grating is a high-performance industrial flooring product manufactured through a compression molding process. Continuous fiberglass strands and liquid thermosetting resin are combined in a precision mold under heat and pressure, creating a one-piece, homogeneous panel with an integral anti-slip surface. The result is a remarkably strong, corrosion-resistant grating that outperforms traditional steel and aluminum in harsh environments.
Unlike pultruded grating, which is assembled from individual bearing bars, molded grating features a square mesh pattern formed directly in the mold. This closed-mold construction delivers exceptional impact resistance, uniform strength in both directions, and a true non-skid surface that meets OSHA and ADA slip-resistance standards. Available in multiple resin systems — including polyester, vinyl ester, and phenolic — molded FRP grating can be tailored to resist specific chemical environments.
Molded FRP grating is widely used across chemical processing plants, food and beverage facilities, water treatment plants, marine platforms, and commercial walkways. Its inherent corrosion resistance eliminates the need for painting or coatings, while its lightweight construction reduces structural support requirements and simplifies installation. With a service life of 20+ years in most environments, molded FRP grating offers one of the lowest total cost of ownership of any industrial flooring solution.

Features & Benefits
Key Features of FRP Grating
Superior Corrosion Resistance
Inert fiberglass construction resists acids, alkalis, salts, and organic chemicals. Vinyl ester and phenolic resin options provide enhanced chemical resistance for the most demanding environments, eliminating the need for protective coatings.
Integrated Anti-Slip Surface
The molded diamond or concave-convex surface texture provides a permanent non-skid walking surface without separate coatings. Meets OSHA, ADA, and IBC slip-resistance requirements for safe pedestrian traffic in wet or oily conditions.
Lightweight & High Strength
At only 4.5 psf for 1-inch thick panels, molded FRP grating is 75% lighter than steel while delivering comparable strength. Reduces structural steel requirements, simplifies handling on site, and lowers shipping costs.
Impact & Fatigue Resistant
The one-piece molded construction absorbs impact without cracking or deforming. Excellent fatigue resistance under repeated foot traffic and light industrial vehicle loads ensures long-term structural integrity.
Low Maintenance & Long Life
Never needs painting, galvanizing, or other corrosion protection. UV inhibitors protect against sun degradation. Typical service life exceeds 20 years with minimal maintenance, providing exceptional lifecycle value.
Electrical & Thermal Insulation
Electrically non-conductive and non-magnetic, making it ideal for electrical substations, battery rooms, and sensitive electronic environments. Low thermal conductivity provides comfortable walking surfaces in extreme temperatures.
